Before you tour or send money
- Meet in person at the property before signing anything.
- Bring a friend to tours, especially for private rooms or houses.
- Verify the poster is on the actual lease. Ask to see documentation.
- Google the address to confirm the property exists as described.
Red flags — don't ignore these
- Pressure to send money before you've toured or seen a lease.
- Requests for gift cards, wire transfers, or crypto.
- Deals that feel way below market — scammers rely on urgency.
- Refusal to meet in person or verify identity.
- Copied photos or vague answers about the property.
Protecting your info
- Only share contact info you're comfortable with — you can pick phone, Snapchat, Instagram, or other.
- Never share sensitive documents (ID, SSN, bank info) with someone you haven't verified.
- FayCribs does not handle payments. Anyone asking you to "pay through FayCribs" is a scammer.
